The cost of sustainability. The value of nature. We study the systems.

We are a world-class set of economists that collaborate with agronomists, scientists, engineers, legal scholars, and other researchers. We study tradeoffs, human behavior, and the allocation of scarce resources. The results? Sustainable food systems, reliable energy and water systems, healthy environments, and thriving communities.

Our M.S. and Ph.D. alumni have mastered the skills required to make an impact in sustainability problems facing the world. CEOS alumni have landed in an array of professions: some have continued onto post-docs and professorships at top research institutions, while others are working as environmental economists, consultants, and policy analysts in government or nonprofits.
