Understanding the impact of interventions on environmental and social outcomes is crucial for designing policies that can generate sustainable development. Impact evaluation uses carefully designed evaluations to uncover the causal effect of interventions on outcomes that we care about, such as evaluating whether creating a conservation area generates more habitat. Using these tools, we can then determine how we can get the environmental and social outcomes we want at the lowest cost.
