Dr. Muhammad Jawad Khan is an environmental economist whose research bridges natural resource economics, consumer/producer behavior, and sustainability policy. His work focuses on the economic valuation of environmental goods, consumer preference for sustainability attributes of food products, and the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices. By integrating econometric modeling, data science techniques, and survey-based experiments, he analyzes how economic incentives and policy interventions shape consumer choices. His dissertation explores the willingness to pay for PFAS remediation in municipal water systems, consumer trade-offs in food environmental footprints, and market potential for diversified forest products such as birch syrup. His research informs sustainable policy design by combining environmental economics with behavioral insights and data-driven decision-making.

Dr. Khan has held research and teaching positions at universities in the U.S. and internationally, specializing in environmental economics, policy analysis, and data-driven sustainability research. He has also contributed to program management, consultancy projects, and departmental leadership, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and policy engagement.
